Dear Director Seltz,

I’m writing on behalf of the Massachusetts Mental Health Coalition, an advocacy group made up of the mental
health professional associations and mental health consumer groups in the Commonwealth. We request your
assistance in seeking clarity about the process the state is undertaking to implement the mandated electronic
medical records requirement for behavioral health records.

In October 2013, the Commission’s consultant charged with this task gave a report to our group and said he would return in the spring regarding our input in to the decisions related to behavioral health records within the mandated electronic medical records system.

We are still waiting to hear back and are very concerned that the input of the mental health community is being unheard.

Would you and the Health Policy Commission please shed light on this process and let us know how the HPC is proceeding with this important component. You can contact me at 508-698-0010 or mwilliams@mamhca.org
