Massachusetts Post Doctoral Training Programs

Dear Colleague,

The Massachusetts Psychological Association (MPA) is pleased to provide you with our Post Doctoral Training Directory. This directory is designed to help psychologists at a critical juncture in their careers when they leave their pre-doctoral training and begin to prepare for licensure as an independent psychologist. This is a big step in building a career in psychology and one which can sometimes benefit from guidance and support about steps to take toward the future.

This directory is a product of MPA’s Early Career Psychology Initiative whose mission is to help provide support, guidance and resources for psychologists as they embark on their professional careers. This Directory represents an attempt to bring together information about training sites that offer post-doctoral positions and make this information readily available for psychologists who want to pursue further training in the beginning of their career. By no means are all post-doctoral positions listed in this Directory, but many institutions in Massachusetts are listed. In coordinating the information for the Directory it became apparent that some positions were awaiting clarification regarding funding and other institutions offered training positions but no stipends. In both of these cases, it was felt that we should attempt to offer information about positions that could offer paid stipends as well as a reasonable guarantee that funding was available for the upcoming year.

We are excited with the response we received in researching this year’s Directory and hope that you will find the information about various training sites useful. If you hear about additional funded post-doc programs, please notify us so we can include them in future directories. We welcome any suggestions you might have as we think about planning for next year’s Directory, and we encourage you to contact the MPA office if we can be of further assistance in the development of your career.

We congratulate you on your accomplishment in graduate school and encourage you to become more active in MPA, especially the Early Career Initiative. Your input can help us make our services more meaningful for you at this stage of your career as well as to assist you in networking as you launch this next phase of your career as a psychologist. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Most Sincerely,

Dawn Cisewski, Psy.D.

MPA Board President
