Share |

Prepared by Michael A. Goldberg, Ph.D.

Updated June 2, 2015

Massachusetts General Laws requires health plans to pay interest on “clean” claims that contain all the required information within 45 days, if and only if the provider sends a written demand for such payment. Interest payment begin 45 days from date of the written demand letter.

Sending such a demand letter immediately when there are claims problems that are not being reasonably handled within 45 days often results in quicker and more effective response to the claims from health plans.
