MPA members Valene Whittaker, Ph.D., and Shavonne Moore, Ph.D., were recently elected to three-year terms on the boards of governance committees in the 2017 American Psychological Association Board Elections.

Dr. Whittaker was elected to a three-year term on APA’s Membership Board, which manages the oversight of membership recruitment and retention activities for APA.  Dr. Whittaker is an early career psychologist who currently serves as the Boston Metro Regional Representative to the MPA Board of Directors.  She is also Co-Chair of the MPA Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs (CEMA) and a member of the MPA Ethics Committee.

Dr. Moore was elected to three-year term on the Board for the Advancement of Psychology in the Public Interest.  APA states that, “The mission of the board shall be to encourage the generation and application of psychological knowledge on issues important to human well-being. It shall have general concern for those aspects of psychology that involve solutions to the fundamental problems of human justice and that promote equitable and just treatment of all segments of society.”

Dr. Moore is also an early career psychologist and a member of CEMA, and applied this year as a Diversity Delegate for MPA at the APA Practice Leadership Conference

Both of their terms will begin on January 1, 2018 and continue through December 31, 2020. MPA congratulates Drs. Moore and Whittaker and wishes them both successful terms on their respective boards.
