Call for Nominations for the MPA Ethics Committee

In response to the successful launch of our new Ethics Committee, the MPA Board of Directors is inviting nominations of MPA members to serve on the committee. Please nominate (or self-nominate) MPA psychologists who have knowledge and interest in ethics as demonstrated in their teaching, consultation, research or service.

Attention will be given to the diversity of the nomineeā€™s work setting (e.g., institutional practice, consulting, forensic practice, military experience, independent practice, industrial/organizational) as well as his/her career stage. Individuals with knowledge specific to multicultural and social justice issues are strongly encouraged to apply.

While expertise in ethics is highly valued, perhaps more important is the ability to think clearly, collaborate with colleagues, and communicate ideas effectively. The Ethics Committee avoids passing judgment or prescribing a particular course of action. Our goal is to improve the quality of thinking about ethical issues.

Ethics Committee meetings are held every four to six weeks on a Thursday or Friday from 9am -10:30am in the MPA conference room at 195 Wellesley Street in Wellesley. Although in-person attendance at each meeting is not mandatory, we request that interested nominees have the flexibility in their schedule to attend these meetings.

Materials submitted by nominees will be reviewed initially by the Ethics Committee and then submitted to the MPA Board for a final decision.

Please take the time to consider members of MPA who exemplify the qualities described above. If you are that person and are interested in serving, consider self-nominating.

Submit nominations by April 30, 2018 to:

Massachusetts Psychological Association

195 Wellesley Street Suite 303, Wellesley, MA 02481

or via fax at 781-263-0086 or email to with "Nomination" in the subject line.

Please feel free to forward this announcement to other MPA members who may be interested in serving.
