Important Information for 2020 Licensure Renewal

There are two important updates that all licensed psychologists should be aware of:
1. Reminder: Requirement to Enroll as MassHealth Billing or Non-Billing Providers
You only need to complete this process once; you do not need to reapply for each renewal. If you have not received a paper confirmation of your enrollment from MassHealth, contact provider services (800-841-2900 or providersupport@mahealth.net) and ask about the status of your application.

If you have not already done so, you need to enroll with MassHealth as billing or non-billing provider. There was a mistake in the 2018 licensure renewal form, and the attestation about MassHeath enrollment requirement was not printed on the paper renewal form. However, providers are still required to complete this requirement as a condition of licensure. As a benefit of your MPA membership, you have access to additional resources to help you complete this requirement. On our website, we have a detailed set of instructions and answers to frequently asked questions with links to the necessary materials. Please review those pages before contacting MPA with additional questions.

2.  NewRequirement for Domestic and Sexual Violence Continuing Education:
As part of the Acts of 2014, Chapter 260, licensed professionals working in healthcare are required to complete specialized training in domestic and sexual violence. The implementation date for this requirement will be our next renewal date (June 30, 2020). A free training to meet this requirement is now available online, as well as an FAQ about the requirements. You may also complete in-person trainings provided by different groups, perhaps with CEs attached, as long as they can attest that their training meets the Chapter 260 requirements and include that in your CE documentation.

The training consists of a series of videos, broken up into an Introduction (approximately 6 min.) and 4 Training Modules (approximately 28 min., 12 min., 8 min. and 9 min., respectively). You can stop the training at any point and return to it later. In completing the training myself, there were sometimes technical issues in getting it set up and accessing some of the modules. For this reason, you are recommended to complete this training well in advance of licensure renewal. If you experience issues, you can click on the troubleshooting link at the top, or close it and return to it at a different time.

Following each of the four Training Modules, you'll need to complete a series of multiple choice questions about the content. You need a score of 100% to move on, but it will allow you to change your responses and submit them again. When you have completed the training, you'll be able to print out a certificate of completion for your records.
