MPA enables psychologists to speak with one voice to industry, academia & government on crucial issues: licensure, managed care, mental health policy, training and more. ADVOCACY:
MPA has never been more successful in its lobbying and negotiating efforts with managed care companies and the State to protect our ability to practice as psychologists. As the times change in health care, you will want advocacy and information that the MPA can bring to you.
FREE LEGAL COUNSEL:
When in need it is reassuring and instructive to have rapid access to competent legal help. MPA
provides access to legal counsel who is very familiar with
psychological/legal problems that might occur in the course of clinical
practice.
FREE ETHICS CONSULTATION:
The
Massachusetts Psychological Association's Ethics Committee serves as a
consultative service for MPA members in matters related to the ethical
conduct of psychologists. Its goal is to help psychologists think
through problems from the perspective of the APA Code of Ethics. We
strive to help members meet the highest professional standards and to
protect the public.
PRACTICE ASSISTANCE:
MPA's Director of Professional Affairs (DPA) provides consultations to assist members with practice issues. Members can schedule practice consultations with the DPA. You may schedule a consult by emailing Susan Wagner, MPA's Executive Director, at wagner@masspsych.org.

The Practice Tools and Resources Page on our website an excellent resource for members. As questions or dilemmas arise in your work, you can use these resources, which cover 23 different practice-related topic areas, to help inform your decision-making process.
LISTSERV:
Get information almost immediately about fast breaking professional issues, make and receive referrals, discuss issues of interest to psychologists all with the convenience of email! A collegial group of psychologists respond to your requests, be it personal or a patient referral. The listserv provides an exchange of information about managed care, answers your questions and offers options for additional information.
MPA COMMITTEES & INTEREST GROUPS:
MPA Committees and Interest Groups provide an excellent opportunity to network with professionals in your specific practice area. There are over 15 active committees & groups that provide opportunities for the exchange of professional ideas, clinical problems, networking and practice opportunities.
MEMBER DISCOUNT RATES FOR CE EVENTS:
High quality continuing education opportunities are provided regularly. MPA presents many workshops each year and an Annual Conference that offer networking and other opportunities to exchange ideas with colleagues at a great venue. Topics cover member interests as well as new developments in the field. Hear knowledgeable presenters at a member's low cost. MPA Sustaining members receive 50 percent off all workshops. Sustaining members contribute an extra $100 on their dues bill to support the organization at a higher level.

MPA WEBSITE, MEMBER DIRECTORY AND REFERRAL SERVICE:
MPA’s website, www.masspsych.org, is a wonderful resource for psychologists, students and the public. It is easily available to members to check a colleague’s membership, a referral source for a patient or to find office space for rent or an available position, if you are new to the area or changing jobs. The referral service is available to the public as well. For students there is a listing of area Post Doc programs and informational resources.
MPA MENTORSHIP PROGRAM:
The MPA Mentorship Program is an initiative for early and mid - career psychologists that provides an opportunity to establish a mentoring relationship with a more experienced clinician. Mentorships may be rewarding for both the mentor and mentee, and you can learn more about the program and apply to be a mentee or mentor at this link.
