MPA Doctoral Student Group
History
The MPA Student Doctoral Group was initiated in 1998 by Marcus Paterson, Rosenblum Fellow, 1997/1998, to facilitate communication among graduate students across state as well as between students and the MPA. The group's goals are to increase student participation in MPA activities, provide a forum for students to exchange ideas and address common concerns, and to promote professional development through advocacy and leadership roles. The MPA student committee aims to get students informed of and involved with state and national issues in psychology, and provides a forum to have students’ opinions and concerns heard. In the past, the MPA student group has participated in advocacy activities such as the annual National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) walk, organized workshops and speaker’s series, held information sessions regarding APA internship year, and provided networking opportunities for students with providers across the state. This group is a wonderful opportunity for professional development and growth.
The MPA Student Committee is looking for more student representation from different programs in the state and surrounding area. If you are currently a member of the MPA and interested in finding out more about the Campus Representative Position, please contact Lynne Casey at casey@masspsych.org
